Chicago Tribune Endorses Wilbrandt

The Chicago Tribune has endorsed Robert Wilbrandt for Judge.

Judge Robert Wilbrandt of Woodstock is the clear choice in this Republican primary. He was appointed to the vacancy last year after serving as an associate judge since 2006. Also on the ballot are prosecutor Demetri Pete Tsilimigras of Cary, private attorney Ray Flavin of Woodstock and McHenry County Clerk Mary Elizabeth McClellan of Holiday Hills.

6 candidiates file for vacant McHenry County judge positions

Wilbrandt, R-Woodstock, was promoted from associate judge to fill McIntyre’s vacancy and announced his intention to keep his seat in June.

“I think that in this type of a race, experience counts,” Wilbrandt said. “It is a policy position for the courts, and you need experience as a judge.”

Wilbrandt has served as a judge in McHenry County for more than 11 years and taught at McHenry County College for more than 25 years as an instructor of business, law and history.

He began his career as an intern in the McHenry County Public Defender’s Office, where he eventually became chief public defender.

He later moved to private practice and became a local prosecutor for the village of Fox River Grove before working as an advocate training attorney and legal adviser for McHenry County’s domestic violence agency, Turning Point.

He was appointed associate judge for McHenry County in 2006.

Judge Wilbrandt’s Support Allows Him to Surpass Signature Requirement

Today, Judge Robert Wilbrandt of the 22nd Judicial Circuit of McHenry County, filed 1,403 signatures that will allow him to seek a full term. 500 signatures are required to get on the Republican ballot. Judge Wilbrandt’s campaign surpassed the goal by virtue of the strong support behind his candidacy.

Judge Wilbrandt has actively engaged residents of McHenry County. In doing so, Judge Wilbrandt has shared his vison for the judicial system. His vision is to ensure full access to justice for all citizens, be more efficient with juror’s time, and increase transparency in the courtroom.

“It is an incredible honor to be a judge in McHenry County,” said Judge Robert Wilbrandt. “It’s vital to me to engage with the residents of our county, and have open, candid conversations. I love the job I get to do – serving as judge. As your judge, I will enforce our laws fairly, firmly, and efficiently.”
